Join us at our chapter meeting Wednesday, June 6th, 2012, at the Sun Trust Bank in Warrenton. “Grizz Lambert,” our favorite fly casting guide/demonstrator will be on the grassy knoll on the opposite side of the shopping center on the edge of the parking lot at 7:00 pm for our annual fly casting tune up – PLUS, this is our pizza dinner night…be sure to come and join us. Plan to meet at 1676 Jackson River Road, Monterey VA, (about 1.5 miles south of the city itself) 10am. Bring water, snacks, insect repellent, rod outfit, leaders, flies & wading gear.

Join Marcia Woolman for our Fish With a Friend outing on the Rapidan River, May 2nd (Wed.) Plan to meet at the Junction Pool (1st pool you can pull off at on the left on the road to Hoover Camp) at 10 AM. Bring water, snacks, insect repellent, rod outfit, leaders, flies & wading gear.

Originally advertised for April 14th, the clean-up day was moved to the 21st due to too many conflicting activities needing volunteers. So, join our host, Chuck Hoysa and the rest of the Chapter volunteers for our annual Rapidan River Clean-up/Picnic/fishing tune-up on Saturday, April 21st. Plan to meet at the Criglersville Elementary School in Criglersville at 9 AM. We’ll begin with the clean-up, followed by the picnic – and then the fly fishing tune-up. For your fishing tune-up, bring water, insect repellent, rod outfit, leaders, flies – Bead Head nymphs (Hares Ear, Pheasant Tail, Prince, etc. sizes 12-16), & wading gear.
Our Kid’s Day/Heritage Day will begin at 9:00am and run until 4:00pm’ish on Saturday, April 7th, where we join up with Graves Mountain Lodge and the Virgina Department of Game and Inland Fisheries -VDGIF, along with other supporting TU Chapters, for a day along the section of Rose River at Graves Mountain Lodge. This event will be open for kids 12 and under to fish for stocked trout in the Rose River there at Graves Mountain, and our event is accompanied by a multitude of other venues and exhibits.
In addition to our own TU Membership Table, we’ll have fly tying demonstrations, fly casting demonstrations and instructions, and and stream/aquatic educational demonstration. Our Chapter originated the Kid’s Day event years ago, and have since joined it with the Virginia Heritage Day where we team up with Jimmy Graves of Graves Mountain, and the VDGIF for this annual family event – - so, for those of you not serving in the volunteer/support effort for this event, please bring your families and come join us for a great time!!
