March 1, 2017 Chapter Meeting

Hi–Lets meet at Sun Trust Bank in Warrenton at 7:30pm Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Summary of fishing show will be discussed.  Speakers are Bryan Hofmann/FOR & Celia Vuocolo/PEC on Kinsey Run Plus.

Lets join speakers Bryan & Celia for dinner at 6pm at Faangs.

April 1, 2017 Trout Heritage Day/Rapidan TU Kid’s Fishing Day

Our 37^th annual Rapidan Trout Unlimited (TU) Kid’s Fishing Day will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017, on the Rose River at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria, Virginia as the major activity of Graves Mountain Lodge’s Heritage Day event. The Rapidan Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Graves Mountain Lodge and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) are again partnering to provide this exciting and educational day for the kids. Approximately sixteen hundred children and their parents attended in 2016.

DGIF heavily stocks the Graves Mountain Lodge section of the river with trout and reserves the river for this event. Only children 12 years old and under are permitted to fish and are free to keep up to six fish they catch. Any legal tackle may be used. Children 13-18 years old can fish in a stocked lake on a catch and release, artificial lures only basis. In addition to trout fishing, Rapidan Trout Unlimited provides hands-on fly and spin casting, fly tying, and knot tying instructions and collects aquatic insects from the river for viewing and identification. Information on conservation, habitat management, stream monitoring and the annual Trout Unlimited Tri-State Conservation and Fishing Camp is offered. Other concessions, exhibits and activities are provided by Graves Mountain Lodge and DGIF. Contact John Long with any questions about this event.

February 11, 2017 Rapidan Fishing Show

Hi–Lets all support the show the ways we best can: sell raffle tickets, volunteer at show for several hours, attend the show, and tell friends about the show. We need everyone’s support.  Hope to see you at the Fauquier Fairgrounds Saturday, Feb 11 between 9am & 4pm.
