January 6, 2010-Rapidan Chapter Meeting Minutes

Hi All—The Rapidan TU meeting was convened by newly elected president Rob Paul at 7:30pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Sun Trust bank in Warrenton, with 20 members present. After a friendly welcome by Rob & introductions around the room, there was one new member (Chad Abate) present.

Several awards were handed out by Rob:

Kevin Daniels received a trout plaque for his outstanding performance as past President
Judd Walls received a VCTU award for Rapidan TU best website
Fred Kallmeyer received VCTU Certificate of Appreciation for supporting Rapidan TU.
Also, Marcia Woolman had her first article printed in Fly Fishing Magazine. Go read it. CONGRATS MARCIA!

Doug Farmer/Treas reported bank account balance of $6985.55. as of December 31, 2009.

Fred reported fishing show (Sunday, February 7) is going well and on schedule. All vendor tables are sold out, mailer/seminar schedule completed and on website (thanks to Judd). Now we need to push sales of raffle tickets with family, friends, coworkers and others. Also, a fishing show day volunteer signup sheet was passed around the room, and 18 members signed up.

Fred Kallmeyer, the Fish With a Friend (FWF) program manager reported on the FWF plan/schedule, which is now on website (thanks, Judd). Fourteen members volunteered (thank you very much!) to host at least one FWF fishing event. Details for each month’s FWF events will be in the monthly newsletter.

Fred Kallmeyer reported on chapter speaker/event programs for next 3 months;

February 3-Chris Murphy hosts fly tying nite
March 3-Each member details their special fishing spot(access, location, flies, etc)
April 7-Shad Fishing??.

Kevin then led a “all hands meeting” using Powerpoint presentation, to review/collect comments on all Rapidan TU activities (email lead person below if you can help):

Marcia Woolman: (mwoolman@crosslink.net)–VTSSS, volunteers needed to collect stream water data on Sunday, April 25.
